Glass: walking in the waste head of recycling glass bottles

In the production line of Laoshan Glass Co., Ltd., newly-made glass bottles gradually cooled down, showing a crystal green green. Who could have thought that most of the glass bottles produced here were taken from a variety of glass bottles such as beer bottles that were discarded in our lives... In the past two years, through continuous innovations in the use of waste glass, the company has “eaten” for one year. The waste glass under it has reached more than 80,000 tons, accounting for about 3.5% of the country's annual output of waste glass.

Finding useful waste from waste

Most of the waste glass used by Bengbu comes from social acquisition. Due to the shortage of its recycling capacity relative to its production capacity, the company has also put the technological waste of waste recycling into the secondary use of waste.

In this regard, they currently have two typical practices: The first is the reuse of waste glass slag produced during the waste glass cleaning process. When the technicians studied the waste glass residues, they discovered that in addition to 60% of the soil, there were still 40% of available crushed glass slag, and these were all shipped to landfill sites. So they launched a wasteful research project in this area. At the beginning of this year, a new process was developed for the recycling of waste glass slag by roller mills. Through this new process and the use of the reclaimed water from the company's sewage treatment plant, the 12 tons of waste glass produced in the company's 30 tons of shredded glass sludge can be effectively recycled. This is rediscovered from the waste utilization process. The wastes at the same time as reducing solid waste emissions increase the efficiency of comprehensive utilization of resources. The company has estimated that, with the elimination of workers' wages and electricity expenses, the company can save 3,600 yuan per day, and it is nearly 1.3 million yuan in one year. Another way is to use the waste glass produced in the company's production process as a backfeed.

Innovation is endless and the use of waste should be even more so. To this end, Bolivia has also stepped up its efforts in scientific and technological research this year. According to reports, at present, through the improvement of process recipes, they have developed a new composite environmental protection material that replaces glass as the main raw material for fluorite and lepidolite. In addition to using it to save more mineral resources, the most significant may be its environmental effects. Fluorite is a kind of fluorine-containing mineral, which has an adverse effect on the environment and human health. It can not be said to be a very beneficial environmental contribution.

According to the person in charge of the company, at present, SB glass is still continuously improving the use rate of waste glass. Through the improvement of process recipes and the use of new materials, the utilization rate of broken glass has reached over 85%. This figure is currently the best in the world.

Technological innovation makes more waste glass "rebirth"

Into the company's hospital, the reporter did not see the common glass products commonly piled raw silica sand, industrial alkali, etc., but in the backyard of the plant saw the mountains of waste glass bottles and smashed glass residue. Relevant person in charge of the company told the reporter that most of the company’s production raw materials were taken from here, sorting and cleaning the used glass, adding a unique formula, melting and reconstructing in the furnace, and producing a new bottle with excellent texture.

The reporter walked along the waste bottle recycling production line. The waste bottle is first crush-cleaned and then sent on a slow-moving conveyor belt. Here, the sorting process was carried out by a special person. Bottle caps, sticky labels, etc. were picked out one by one and discarded. The shredded glass after repeated sorting is crushed after further cleaning, then mixed into other raw materials and sent to a glass production melting furnace.

It is understood that with the continuous development of the economy and society, many glass wastes are inevitably produced. Relevant experts estimate that about 2% of the domestic garbage produced in China each year is waste glass, and the total amount is about 2.6 million tons. A large amount of waste glass is abandoned, which not only covers land, but also pollutes the environment. It also causes a lot of waste of resources and energy. In addition, each ton of glass products produced consumes 700-800 kilograms of quartz sand, 100-200 kilograms of soda ash, and other chemical raw materials. In total, 1.1-1.3 tons of raw materials are used for every 1 ton of glass products, and they are also used. A lot of coal, oil and electricity. Therefore, the use of waste glass as a kind of resource "return furnace" to produce products that people need is attracting people's attention. It is precisely in this case that Lushan Glass Company has continuously increased its technological research and development efforts, and continuously and scientifically adjusts the technological formula, increases the proportion of broken glass, and increases the amount of broken glass, without affecting the quality of the product. This will reduce the use of raw materials such as soda ash and silica sand that are prone to pollution and difficult to recycle.

According to the person in charge of the company, in order to increase the use of waste glass, Bengbu has established a municipal-level technology research and development center composed of various professionals, and has hired the China Light Industry Design and Research Institute, the Provincial Institute of Light Industry and the famous light industry in Malaysia. Experts were consultants and asked them to come to the company for on-site guidance. Through unremitting research and development and trials, Brewery's waste glass utilization rate has gradually increased from the initial 30% to 40%, 45%, and 60%. Currently, it can technically reach 80%. This utilization rate can be compared with advanced countries. Comparing with shoulders, it is only a shortfall in the amount of waste glass recovered. At present, it is still unable to reach this level of utilization.

According to statistics, together with the utilization of waste glass slag produced during the production process, the glass utilization rate of Brewery will reach 65% this year, and the amount of waste glass will be expected to increase from 50,000 tons to 90,000 tons.

A model work of circular economy

The typical significance of the continued increase in the utilization rate of waste glass by Bengbu lies in that they make full use of discarded resources to save valuable energy and resources, and this is one of the realms pursued by the circular economy.

As a large-scale glass production enterprise with an annual output value of over 100 million yuan, electricity, alkali, oil, coal and other energy-consuming costs have accounted for more than 40% of the total cost of the company. Under the fierce competition in the glass production market, the implementation of energy conservation and consumption reduction and the realization of “low consumption and high output” have always been the focus of the company's management. The increase in the utilization of waste glass is the ideal way to boost this goal.

In addition to reducing the use of soda ash, silica sand and other mineral raw materials, the increase in the utilization rate of waste glass is also conducive to melting, reducing the consumption of oil, coal, and electricity. It is understood that through the continuous adjustment of process recipes in the past two years to increase the use of waste glass, Bentglass has achieved an annual saving of 4,200 tons of soda ash and 2,108 tons of coal in the case of an annual increase in annual production (about 30 million bottles per year). 380,000 kWh of electricity, saving a total value of 4.3 million yuan.

At the same time, the economic use of waste glass is not only one of the ways to improve the economic efficiency of enterprises, but also has played a certain role in promoting the environment. According to statistics calculated by professional departments in the world, when the amount of waste glass used in new glass production accounts for 60% of the total amount of ingredients, it can reduce air pollution by 6%-22% and save 6% of energy. Currently, the actual utilization rate of waste glass by Bengbu has exceeded 60%. Its environmental effects are also roughly the same. Do not look at the percentage of this percentage of pollution reduction is not large, but if it is multiplied by the total amount, the environmental protection effect is very considerable. In addition, because glass is a non-degradable waste, the increase in recycling efficiency also reduces its environmental pollution. According to the reclaimable waste glass and waste residue of nearly 90,000 tons in the year of 2009, about 60,000 cubic meters of landfill will be reduced each year.

It should be noted that all new attempts made by Bentglass are based on the premise that not only can not affect the quality of the product, but also continue to improve the quality of the product. In fact, after testing, beer bottles with more waste glass are more rigid and look better. At present, its products mainly supply Tsingtao Brewery No.1 and No.2 Plants. Tsingtao Brewery's product bottles are also produced from Bolivia, which shows that its quality is excellent.
