Drupa 2008: Presstek Introduces New Chemical-Free CTP Edition

On May 30, Presstek announced the launch of Aurora Pro, a new chemical-free thermal CTP plate. This plate was also exhibited at the Drupa 2008 exhibition.

"Presstek has created a series of chemical-free digital plates," said John O'Rourke, manager of CTP products at Presstek. "The launch of Aurora Pro will allow Presstek's true chemical-free processing media to be combined with the large number of third-party thermal CTP platesetters already in existence to provide the unmatched quality that the market expects from Presstek. Productivity and environmental protection."

Presstek's Aurora Pro Plate

Aurora Pro plates are truly chemical-free plates that can be exposed using many companies' thermal platesetters, such as screens and Kodak (Crio) platesetters, and the latest Compass series of CTPs from Presstek. Platemaking machine.

“At present, there are an estimated 25,000 thermal CTP platesetters installed worldwide,” said Mr. Jürker. "The launch of Aurora Pro provides the owners of these platesetters with the opportunity to take advantage of Presstek's true chemical-free platemaking process."

Aurora Pro's imaging is fast and accurate, allowing thermal CTP systems to maximize production output. The Aurora Pro can be operated in daylight. It uses non-ablation technology and can be used after washing with water only. This plate does not require the use of chemicals for development, does not require baking, and does not require coating. With an output resolution of 200 lpi, Aurora Pro printing plates can guarantee that 1% to 99% of the dots are flushed out. In addition, this type of plate can be easily operated using random screening (FM screening) technology. After imaging flushing, the plate can show very high contrast images, which is easy to check and evaluate - this allows the plate to be corrected before the machine is on the machine, thus significantly reducing costs.

Aurora Pro uses a roughened and anodized aluminum base plate. This base has excellent ink balance, so it is excellent at printing, it can quickly ink, can reduce the preparation time and reduce the waste of overprinting paper. . This plate is rated for 25,000 impressions and is suitable for short-run commercial printing applications. In addition, Aurora Pro plates are also very resistant to UV inks and solvents, so the use of this plate can be used for both traditional offset printing and UV printing.
