The atelier urban face was influenced by the wind to create an ultra-small town on the Royal Hills of Montreal. They look like sloping trees: they are blown by the wind and are very sensitive to the stress of the surrounding environment. As the designers say, these small buildings are like actors who walk into the world of poetry.
Here (Royal Mountain) is Montreal's true landmark: its artistic landscape, with its simplicity balances the sense of stress from urban architecture. The scenery here allows people to make short stays in the snow or on the grass, and during the break, they may be happy. These simple and ordinary structures carefully try to give us this kind of happiness; they are like trees, and the degree of bending is different; it does not change the nature of the mountain; if they are telling a story, I believe it must be a long story.
There are three architectural models, each with a slight change in size and orientation. The first model has an angle of ten degrees, the second model has an angle of twenty degrees, and the last model has thirty degrees. The three cottages are randomly scattered among the mountains, so no buildings, pavilions, trees or waterfalls can take you to them first. Conversely, random placement enables an infinite number of arrival paths, as unexpected as nature, and as purposeful as a road. Together they portray an Impressionist village society, where the differences are the same.
The first cabin has a slope of ten degrees and can accommodate up to 30 people, while offering a variety of activities. The second cabin is tilted 12 degrees and integrates the service equipment and first aid station of the town. The third type of cabin that is tilted thirty degrees is the ticket office and serves as a storage space for recreational facilities.
Through the forest, some small houses are clearly visible, while others are less conspicuous. Seen from a close look, the simple house is hollowed out. Their natural color comes from a dialogue between light and shadow, communicating back and forth on the mountain; the roof is covered with galvanized tiles, each cut and arrangement is very unique, showing respect for the structural similarity of the individual. The color of these tiles will change as the brightness of the landscape changes from moment to moment until night falls.
Fighting with the sun and swinging with the wind, these sloping buildings built on the Huangjia Mountain by atelier urban face achieve a sense of synergy and balance through a charming way. But most importantly, the structures they design can adapt to nature, rather than allowing nature to adapt to the structure. They highlight the dynamics of the mountain and portray a lost picture.
