Dangerous Goods Packaging Test in Packaging Test (I)

[Abstract] In order to protect the environment, dangerous goods packages must be tested before entering the circulation field. This article reviews the general test methods and requirements for dangerous goods packaging, and describes the entire test process and evaluation of test results using a special package of dangerous goods as an example.

Abstract:In order to protect our environment the dangerous goods packages have to test for logistic. This text sums up general test method and request for the packaging of dangerous goods. A package of dangerous good is given as test example in the paper. All test processes are described and the test result is estimated for the package.

The packaging of dangerous goods must make a contribution to the protection of people's lives and property, the protection of human health and the environment, and contribute to the sustained, rapid and healthy development of our national economy. Its importance is self-evident. The packaging of dangerous goods must not only ensure that no loss of goods occurs during transportation and storage, but also ensure that it does not harm the means of transport, humans and the environment. The performance of dangerous goods packaging, whether it can guarantee that the dangerous goods in the storage and transportation process will not be damaged, will not cause environmental pollution and harm, must be used in advance a certain test method to test its packaging containers and materials. The dangerous goods packaging test can be put into use only after passing the test.

1 Dangerous goods packaging test requirements

Dangerous goods package tests are used to assess their ability to withstand various loads during circulation and their ability to protect the contents. Because of the wide variety of dangerous goods, including explosives, flammables, toxic substances and radioactive articles, if an accident occurs, the consequences are unimaginable. Therefore, the dangerous goods packaging test is different from ordinary contents, and its requirements are higher than ordinary packaging. In addition to the dangerous goods packaging of compressed gas, liquefied gas and radioactive articles, the dangerous goods packaging is generally divided into three levels according to the structural strength and protective performance and the risk level of the contents, ie, the I-level packaging is suitable for the internal packaging of dangerous goods. Dangerous goods; Class II packaging is suitable for dangerous goods with a dry interior; Class III packaging is suitable for interior use of dangerous goods with a low risk.
The packaging of dangerous goods generally consists of inner packaging and outer packaging. The inner packaging can be metal containers, glass containers, plastic containers, etc. It is mainly used to prevent the leakage of dangerous goods; the outer packaging must not only protect the inner packaging and its contents in storage and transportation. No damage occurs during loading and unloading, and it is convenient for storage and transportation. Dangerous goods packaging can be made of metal, wood, cardboard, plastic barrel boxes. Table 1 lists common test methods for dangerous goods packaging containers. Three of the drop heights and three internal pressures correspond to Class I, Class II, and Class III dangerous goods packages from large to small.


The above is a general test requirement for dangerous goods packaging containers. In the specific test of dangerous goods packaging, different methods and strengths may be used for different packages, and sometimes there are more special requirements.
