Erply: Combining traditional POS with new POS

According to TechCrunch, Erply, a startup that offers a different POS system than traditional sales terminals, today announced a $2.15 million financing in its second round of financing.

Erply provides POS systems and retail management software for commercial retail and e-commerce companies. The iPad application and cloud-based platform provides centralized processing space for managing multiple areas of retail commerce, including integrated systems such as POS, inventory, payroll, accounting, and multi-channel e-commerce. For a business system, adding new business points, retail CRM tracking and data capture to the system is thus easy. In addition, the platform is also equipped with sales and marketing tools.

Erply data processing covers physical stores, online stores and warehouses, and provides real-time event management. The software integrates with other platforms, such as the accounting program QuickBooks, as well as a number of online stores (including Magento, Amazon, eBay, Google, etc.).

In the traditional sense, the POS system (physical sales terminal) has trouble management, cannot be networked, has high cost, and is complicated in system. Retailers need to print out POS records, use cash registers, barcodes, scan codes, physical receipts, inventory software, etc., and these systems are separated and cannot establish effective communication.

In the past few years, some startups have brought innovative advances to traditional POS companies, creating new POS based mobile phones and cloud technologies. The most famous is that the startup Square developed the Square Dongle/Reader hardware and matched it with the Square Register software (recommended reading: Quick Salmon Research: Mobile Payment Origin Square). However, retailers who have used traditional POS systems may not want to completely abandon their existing POS systems. At this time, they can rely on Erply's technology to combine traditional POS and new POS to fully enjoy the convenient connection of cloud systems.

Erply has 100,000 SMB customers and 120,000 users, and the number of users has increased by about 20% per month. Its major clients include Elizabeth Arden, BMW, The Athletes Foot. The company is working hard to cooperate with the top 500 companies to find new growth points in the enterprise.

Erply's offices are located in New York, London, Australia, Denmark, Tallinn, Estonia. The previous round of investment, Redpoint Ventures, played a leading role in this financing. The financing has attracted Erply's funding to accelerate growth and expand international operations, and to provide financial support for competing with powerful competitors such as Square and PayPal. Other similar startups include GoPago and Vend. Investors participating in this round of financing also include Index Ventures and Dave McClure.

Erply received $2 million in funding in 2010, and with this financing, it absorbed a total investment of $4.2 million.
