Packaging information transfer function

One of the important functions of packaging is information transfer. For the tracking and management of the identification of packaged goods, the transmission of information has become increasingly important and has become a necessary and important part of the smoothness of logistics channels.

First, the identification of packaging items

The most obvious information transfer function is to identify the packaged items. The information usually includes numbers such as manufacturing plants, product names, container types (such as boxes, bottles, etc.), numbers, and general commodity codes. The information on the box is used to identify the goods during the receipt, picking and shipping inspection. The easy identification of information is a major requirement, and operators should be able to see the labels at appropriate distances in all directions. The only exception is high-value goods, which have small boxes labeled to reduce the possibility of theft.

Second, tracking

Another important aspect of logistics packaging is tracking. A good material handling control system can track goods in each process of receiving, storing, picking, and shipping. This active control of goods reduces the spread of goods and helps monitor employee productivity. Without detailed barcode scanning and RF information delivery, the detailed cost of tracking a product may be too high. Standardization of inexpensive scanning equipment and code also improves tracking capabilities and efficiency.

Third, loading and unloading instructions

The final role of logistics packaging is to provide instructions on handling and preventing damage. The instructions specify requirements for special merchandise handling, such as glass containers, temperature limits, stacking requirements, and potential environmental requirements. If it is a dangerous commodity, such as chemicals, packaging, or accompanying materials, the penetration and damage should be described.
