Celebrations At Kite
Hey there, folks! It’s been a whirlwind of a month at Kite Packaging, and I couldn’t resist sharing some of the highlights with you all. If you thought working in packaging meant sitting behind a desk all day with zero excitement, think again! Our team here at Kite is proof that even in the world of logistics and supply chain management, there’s room for fun, creativity, and meaningful initiatives. So buckle up as we dive into the festivities and innovations that have kept us buzzing these past few weeks.
Who Said Working In Packaging Was Dull?
At Kite, we’re proud to be an employee-owned company where everyone feels invested—not just financially, but emotionally too. That’s why we’ve embraced every opportunity to celebrate holidays and support causes close to our hearts. There’s this outdated stereotype about packaging companies being rigid and boring, but we’re here to break it! Since our humble beginnings back in 2001, we’ve stayed true to our entrepreneurial spirit and vibrant energy.
For this month’s blog post, we’ll be taking a closer look at how we celebrated Halloween, Diwali, and Movember—alongside some exciting new developments in our product lineup. Have you been celebrating anything special at your workplace lately? Drop us a line or share your photos on Twitter (@kitepackaging)! We’d love to see what you’ve been up to.
Halloween Fancy Dress
Our telesales team is legendary when it comes to costume contests, and they didn’t disappoint this year! From witches and vampires to pop culture icons, they went all out for Halloween. And let me tell you, the person crowned “freakiest clown†really took things to another level. The entire team got involved in the “Trick or Treat Challenge,†where each order generated gave them a chance to pop a ‘Ghostly Balloon’ and earn ‘Poisonous Points.’ But beware—the Ghost of Kite had placed a curse on some balloons, so points could go either way! Talk about adding a twist to the usual holiday cheer.
Congratulations to Count Dracula’s coven for winning the ‘Best Dressed’ award—a mix of vampires, witches, a brutal shooter, and even a cockroach! Yum! There were plenty of treats floating around the office, including a ‘Pumpkin Pail’ filled with sour apples and edible body parts. Now, who else is brave enough to dig into that?
Check out all the fantastic costumes on our Facebook page and let us know who you think deserves the top prize. Spoiler alert: the clown might win by default…
Diwali
Did you know that some of us celebrated Diwali this past weekend? To kick things off, a few of our employees brought in fresh samosas—a delightful surprise during the mid-afternoon slump. What better way to start the weekend than with delicious snacks? Unfortunately, we nixed the idea of lighting fireworks due to our warehouse full of cardboard—it’s safer that way!
Diwali holds immense significance for our Hindu and Sikh colleagues, symbolizing the victory of good over evil and the joy of family and friendship. Just like New Year’s celebrations here in the UK, people light small clay lamps filled with oil to represent knowledge and inner peace. Sweets and gifts are exchanged to strengthen those bonds, and we thoroughly enjoyed sharing these traditional treats with everyone at Kite.
On Monday morning, we were treated to some stunning henna artistry. Check out the intricate designs crafted by our very own Kiran from Telesales below. Truly inspiring!
Movember
Movember has become a global phenomenon over the years, encouraging men worldwide to grow mustaches while raising funds for critical health issues like Men’s Health Awareness and prostate cancer research. Did you know that one in eight men will face prostate cancer at some point in their lives? It’s a staggering statistic, yet it remains largely unspoken. Movember originated in Australia back in 2003 and now boasts millions of participants across more than 21 countries.
Here at Kite, we believe in giving back to the community and supporting our employees’ personal fundraising efforts. Recently, several team members ran marathons to raise money for charity, and we’re consistently involved in projects close to our hearts. Sustainability is also a core value; our Envirotape and Envirobox products are designed with the environment in mind, and we strive to recycle as much as possible.
This year, seven of our employees have joined the Movember movement, and we’re cheering them on as they grow their mustaches—and hopefully raise lots of funds! Last year, participants collectively raised over £1.1 million, and we’re confident our guys will match—or surpass—that figure. Head over to their fundraising page to show your support!
In the meantime, feast your eyes on the “before†photos of our Mo Bros (well, sort-of before—they already have some stubble going). Stay tuned for the dramatic transformations as the month unfolds!
Company Celebrations and New Products
Aside from all the fun, we’ve also experienced some incredible growth. Just recently, we expanded our branches in Coventry and Sheffield with an investment totaling £5 million. To celebrate, we popped open some bubbly and indulged in chocolates—a well-earned reward for all our hard work.
And speaking of rewards, we’ve launched a brand-new range of standard labels perfect for fragile items or products requiring specific instructions. After months of development, we’re thrilled to offer competitive pricing and an extensive selection. Your feedback means the world to us, so don’t hesitate to let us know what you think—or suggest any ideas for future products. Collaboration makes us stronger!
These launches follow hot on the heels of our Kite Mini Air machine, which has received rave reviews from businesses, and our versatile vermiculite, which isn’t limited to packaging—it’s also great for gardening and safely transporting hazardous materials.
Thank You!
A heartfelt thanks goes out to our valued partners: customers, suppliers, media allies, and, most importantly, our dedicated employees. Together, we’ve achieved amazing things at Kite. Here’s to many more milestones ahead!
