According to Dr. Meng Yuezhong, a Japanese scientist first proposed the idea of ​​converting carbon dioxide into plastic in 1969. However, the catalyst he uses is inefficient and costly, and it is difficult to make large-scale industrial development. After Meng Huiguo served as the chief scientist of the “CO2 Polymerization and Utilization” project group, through the loading technology, each gram of catalyst could catalyze 120 to 140 grams of carbon dioxide, and the carbon dioxide content per ton of new plastic reached 42%, and successfully made every ton. The cost of plastic products dropped to 12,000 yuan, which is 1/3 to 1/4 of the current price of plastic products in the market. More importantly, this research result has already entered the implementation phase of industrialization. A pilot plant with an annual output of 300,000 tons is already under construction.
