Data network comprehensive monitoring solution
1. User needs analysis
The network centralized monitoring system is an efficient system that provides users with centralized monitoring, centralized maintenance, and centralized fault analysis. The design goal of this solution is to comprehensively cover the enterprise's data communication network, and provide network management personnel with tools to quickly locate network faults and solve network problems.
The system is divided into two parts: network fault monitoring tools and business performance monitoring. Users can select all or part of the components according to their needs.
The network monitoring system is mainly for the analysis, tracking and statistics of network data packets for the engineers responsible for network maintenance. The system also provides integrated SNMP and RMON statistical functions. The monitoring system provides users with the following functions:
(1) Provide a centralized monitoring system for the network. Analyze and test each network segment of the network through the center. Thereby establishing a fast and centralized fault analysis and diagnosis system.
(2) Provide statistical analysis functions for all network segments covered. Through the company's network probes, RMON-based statistics and analysis functions can be performed on the network. Statistical items include traffic distribution, protocol distribution, user distribution, etc.
(3) Provide a fault diagnosis system for experts, evaluate the network quality, and provide suggestions and assistance for the analysis and elimination of network faults.
(4) Provide 100% data capture and storage functions, users can capture and decode data packets on the central platform.
(5) Support decoding and statistics functions of more than 400 protocols.
The service analysis system is a performance test system for IP services that needs to be developed for users' increasingly strong service guarantees. Through this system, operators can quickly and effectively test, publish and store user service quality. At the same time, overall and segmented quality tests can be performed on the network to quickly locate and isolate network faults. The test system provides users with the following functions:
(1) Comprehensive network quality testing, service quality testing, and network protocol analysis functions. Completely solved the problem of inconsistency between the service quality perceived by users in the past and the network quality parameters tested by operators. Engineers can carry out user simulation tests on the central platform, as well as segment tests on the network.
(2) Unique Web Agent technology provides a very convenient way to test and release. Users only need to log in to the specified website, the system can automatically test the user's business quality and publish the test results on the Web Server.
(3) Provide integrated functions for long-term business quality data, including quality change trends, quality alarms, and SLA functions.
This recommendation is based on the network structure of an enterprise. The monitoring system includes an overall plan and a distributed implementation plan.
(1) This plan mainly describes the structure of the overall plan. The overall plan includes all networks covering the enterprise, including LAN, WAN, ATM. The software and server configured in this solution include support for all the above network environments. The functions described in this solution can be applied to all Zhaoqing network tests.
(2) The mandatory configuration of this solution only includes support for the Ethernet part. As the first phase of the project, it is recommended that users implement an Ethernet monitoring system. As the second and third steps, a WAN and ATM monitoring system can be implemented.
(3) The distributed implementation of the project only needs to expand the test module, and no additional software platform and server are needed.
2 Monitoring system function configuration
2.1 Structure connection diagram of monitoring system
1) NTC is the software of the fault monitoring center. It runs in the network management center and performs comprehensive statistics on the network through the RMON information collected by each network probe. At the same time, data can be captured and decoded on the network.
2) If you need to conduct business performance analysis, you need to install Application Analyzer analysis software in the monitoring center.

The overall configuration of the system is shown in the figure. According to the needs of users, 7 distributed network probes, a set of fault detection center software and a set of business analysis center software are required. This solution can further increase the ATM and E1 test modules according to the needs of users, without adding software configuration.
2.2 Test plan design
Steps for the test system to perform network failure analysis:
(1) Users can observe NTC's automatic network performance scan (radar chart) and network snapshot to see if there is a fault on the network and the point in time when the fault occurred.
(2) Observe the RMON statistical data and baseline of the network, including protocol analysis, user analysis, packet length distribution, utilization rate change, etc.
(3) Locate the problematic address (using TOP N function) and observe the statistical information of the specific address.
(4) Start the data capture and decoding functions and analyze the seven-layer decoding of the data packet.
(5) Perform network troubleshooting according to the recommendations given by the expert system.
The business performance test is a unique function of the monitoring system. The steps of the test system to perform user test functions are as follows:
(1) The user opens the browser and accesses the URL address announced by the administrator.
(2) The user clicks the Web Agent button to load the Web Agent.
(3) Simulation Center automatically discovers users who have logged in, and tests the user's business performance such as TCP throughput, delay, jitter; FTP / HTTP throughput and other parameters.
(4) Simulation Center transmits the test results to the integrated Sybase database. The database searches the user's history and adds the latest results.
(5) Form the user's test results into the business performance baseline and publish it on the business quality announcement Web Server.
(6) The user closes the browser, the test agent disappears automatically, and the test ends.

3.1 System capacity configuration instructions
1) The system includes 7 10 / 100M Ethernet test modules, including 4 fiber-optic interface Ethernet test modules.
2) Using a fault monitoring center, all test modules can be controlled and collected at the same time.
3) The system allows up to 20 administrators to access the fault monitoring center locally or remotely for network analysis and statistics.
4) The business testing center can support the business testing of 10 users at the same time.
