Hello there, Packaging Doctor!

We run a modest business crafting custom kitchen cabinets. To shield the sharp corners, we use bubble wrap and tape to offer some cushioning. Additionally, we apply the same tape directly onto the finished edges for added protection. However, the current tape we use is quite troublesome to peel off, leaving behind sticky residues that are hard to clean up. We're searching for a tape that measures either 25mm or 50mm in width and is simple to remove without damaging the surface. Could you assist us with this?

Thank you kindly, Martin

Greetings Martin,

When choosing the ideal tape for your needs, it's crucial to prioritize ease of removal. For a clean and effortless unpeeling process, I'd highly recommend Vibac Masking Tape. It employs a pressure-sensitive low-tack adhesive, ensuring it comes off smoothly without any sticky remnants or harm to your products—especially beneficial for items with painted or glazed finishes.

On the other hand, if you wish to avoid using masking tape, consider opting for a tape featuring a water-based acrylic adhesive. While this adhesive has a stronger hold and better durability, it too can be effortlessly removed with minimal residue left behind. Our range includes such tapes, but our Envirotape is particularly favored—it boasts a smaller core to reduce cardboard waste and an impressive 150 meters per roll (far exceeding the usual 66-meter standard), making it cost-effective.

Even though tape remains a viable option, we also offer a variety of edge protectors that many find preferable due to their simpler application and removal processes, along with superior protection against impact damage. Our solid board edge protectors are the most budget-friendly, starting at only 13 pence each. If you're seeking a more polished look with additional shock absorption, our foam U-channel protectors fit snugly around delicate edges and begin at just 26 pence per meter.

Wishing you success, The Packaging Doctor

Don't hesitate to explore different solutions until you find what works best for your specific needs. After all, protecting your furniture isn't just about practicality—it's about preserving the craftsmanship and beauty of each piece you create.

In conclusion, whether you're a small-scale artisan or a large-scale manufacturer, safeguarding your products should never be overlooked. By taking proactive steps now, you'll avoid costly mistakes down the line and ensure that every piece reaches its destination in pristine condition. So take the time to evaluate your current practices and make informed decisions that align with your goals and values. Your future customers will thank you!
