Mother’s Day Breakfast in Bed

There’s nothing quite like a cozy breakfast in bed on Mother’s Day. This year, though, we’re a bit short on time because the clocks are going back, meaning we lose an hour of sleep—so a lie-in is out of the question. That makes the breakfast even more special, which is why I was thrilled when Asda Birmingham Barnes Hill sent me some amazing Mother’s Day treats. The girls were excited to put together a little surprise for me. The twins have their own ideas about everything. When they saw the goodies, they decided it would be better to have an early Mother’s Day breakfast in bed. It was a real treat to wake up to something unexpected. They said if they do it on the actual day, I’ll be expecting it and it won’t feel as special. Hmm… I think they just wanted to sneak a few of the treats themselves! I told them this was just a practice run, and I’m still counting on that proper breakfast in bed on Sunday. Pancakes are always a hit with the kids. They’re easy to make, and you can prepare the ingredients the night before to save time. No need for complicated appliances, yet it still feels like a real treat. We tried Asda Baker’s Selection Pancakes in Maple and White Chocolate flavors. They were light, fluffy, and tasted just like homemade—plus, they only cost 80p for five! Of course, not everything went perfectly. The twins managed to drizzle extra maple syrup over the pancakes and pile on the blueberries, but somehow, the mess made it all the more fun. The Extra Special Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice was the perfect addition—tangy, fresh, and just what I needed to start the day. I might even go back to sleep and get that extra hour, but I’m definitely planning to enjoy my breakfast in bed later this weekend. If blueberries aren’t your thing, you could try strawberries or even let older kids fry some bacon. It’s all about making it personal and special. One of my favorite parts of the tradition is seeing the proud looks on their faces when they bring the breakfast in. Even if half the food ends up in their tummies and the pancakes are drowning in syrup, it’s worth it. Asda also sent me a bottle of Henri Cachet Champagne and a beautiful metallic copper vase for flowers. It’s the perfect size for my favorite roses. Charlotte took a few pictures to capture the moment. She did a great job! The girls really enjoyed putting it all together, and I loved being spoiled. It goes to show that you don’t need a fancy restaurant—just something made with love. This tradition is one we’ll keep for years to come. *Disclaimer: In paid partnership with Asda.*
