There’s nothing quite like a cozy breakfast in bed on Mother’s Day. This year, though, we’re a little short on time because the clocks are going back, meaning we’ll technically lose an hour of sleep. That makes a lazy morning even more tempting—but also less likely. So, when Asda Birmingham Barnes Hill sent me some lovely Mother’s Day treats, it was the perfect opportunity for the girls to surprise me with a special breakfast in bed.
The twins always have their own ideas. When they saw the treats, they suggested doing the breakfast early—because if they wait until Mother’s Day, I’ll be expecting it and it won’t feel as special. Hmmm… I suspect they just wanted to try the goodies themselves! I told them this was just a practice run, and I’m still holding out for the real thing on Sunday.
Pancakes were the obvious choice. They’re easy to make, require no complicated appliances, and can be prepped the night before. Plus, they feel like a treat without being too much work. We received Asda Baker’s Selection Pancakes in Maple and White Chocolate flavors, and they were absolutely delicious—light, fluffy, and packed with flavor. At just 80p for five, they’re a great value too.
The twins did a pretty good job making the pancakes, drizzling maple syrup and adding blueberries. Not everything ended up on the plate, but that’s part of the fun. The Extra Special Maple Syrup and Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice made the meal complete—tangy, fresh, and perfect for starting the day. I might just go back to sleep after my breakfast in bed, thanks to that extra hour.
If you’re not a fan of blueberries, you could swap them for strawberries or even add some bacon if you’ve got older kids. It’s all about making it personal and fun.
I’m hoping to enjoy my breakfast in bed a bit later than usual this weekend—no rush, no school. Just a peaceful morning with a delicious meal. One of the best parts is seeing the proud looks on their faces as they bring it to me, even if things get a little messy along the way.
Asda also sent me a bottle of Henri Cachet Champagne and a beautiful metallic copper vase for flowers. It’s the perfect size for my favorite roses, and it adds a touch of elegance to the day.
Charlotte took a few photos to capture the moment, and I think she did a great job. The girls had a lot of fun putting everything together, and I definitely enjoyed being spoiled. It goes to show that you don’t need a fancy restaurant to make Mother’s Day special—just a little love and effort.
This tradition is one we’ll definitely keep for years to come. After all, who doesn’t love a warm, homemade breakfast in bed?
