Solid photosensitive resin plate making technology and matters needing attention

Since the advent of the United States in the early 20th century, flexographic printing has been an important printing process through constant development and improvement, combined with the full use of high-tech and equipment materials, and continuous improvement in printing quality and speed. Due to the non-pollution of flexographic printing, it is conducive to environmental protection. It not only can print various types of paper, but also can print aluminum foil, plastic film, stickers, textiles, etc. It has the advantages of short cycle, low cost, high efficiency, etc. The share that occupies is rising, especially in the field of packaging and printing. Experts predict that the 21st century will be a golden period for the development of flexo printing. By then, it will form a tripartite situation with lithographic, gravure (or screen), flexo, etc.

As with other prints, flexo-printed prepress plates are the basis for ensuring print quality. In platemaking, plate quality and handling techniques are very critical factors. Plates used in flexo printing include rubber plates and polyester plates. Natural and synthetic rubbers are used in rubber plates. Corrosion-engraving plates are made of photographic plates. Models or stencil bases are made of engraving plates. Rubber plate. The polyester plate is also called a photosensitive resin plate, which is made of a photosensitive resin and is made by a photosensitive plate making method. The plate making material is directly exposed to ultraviolet rays to harden the polyester. Both the rubber and the photosensitive resin must be flexible to cover the various printing materials. The photosensitive resin plate is a plate that is widely used and replaces the traditional rubber plate at present, so must fully familiarize with its characteristic and operation technology, can produce the high quality printing plate.

The main features of the photosensitive resin plate

The photosensitive resin plate has two kinds of solid and liquid, and the composition, performance and manufacturing process of the plate are not the same. A liquid photosensitive resin plate is formed by preliminarily coating and curing with a liquid photosensitive resin at a required thickness on a specific exposure apparatus at the time of plate making. The negative image is placed on the parallel glass of the plate making machine before making the plate. The liquid photosensitive resin plate is then laid on the protected vulgar picture while covering the substrate, and the main exposure and back exposure are performed. In the main exposure, light passes through the negative image and strikes the photosensitive resin layer. The resin in the light-receiving part hardens into a solid state, and the photosensitive resin in the non-light-receiving place is still in a liquid state. The backside exposure makes the base and the resin bond firmly. The developed printing plate is subjected to developing and rinsing, that is, a special brush is used to brush off the photosensitive resin liquid remaining in the plate, the washed printing plate is dried in an oven, and then subjected to a post-exposure treatment to make the printing. The resin on the plate hardens completely.

The liquid flexo plate can have different hardness. In recent years, with the development of technology, it is also possible to manufacture a multi-layer flexographic plate that can replace a polyester film base with a foamed plastic film base. Because the liquid photosensitive resin plate has the problems of limited format, low resolution and poor hand feeling, it is not suitable for making fine image plates, so it is not used in flexo printing, and it is mainly applied to the corrugated carton plate making.

The solid photosensitive resin plate is the main plate material in flexo printing and is made of prefabricated solid-state photosensitive resin. The solid photosensitive plate plate has a large latitude, a very uniform thickness, and can accommodate very fine high-gloss levels, and has a smaller shrinkage than the rubber plate and the liquid plate. With many advantages such as high printing durability, the precision and quality of flexo printing are greatly improved compared to traditional rubber plates. At present, the highest resolution of solid-state photosensitive resin has exceeded 350 lines, and dot reproducibility reaches 1% to 95%. Plate flatness ±0.013mm. The structure of the solid photosensitive resin plate is:

(1) Surface sheet: It is mainly used for protecting photosensitive resin plates. It is usually manufactured until the end of the negative exposure in the plate making process.

(2) Protective layer: for the matte film base, between the surface sheet and the photosensitive resin, after the surface sheet is torn open, it can allow good contact and provide a good vacuum suction when the film is exposed, during the process of washing, The protective layer will be dissolved immediately. The function of the protective layer is to prevent the photosensitive resin layer from being scratched, and to block light from irradiating the resin layer to cause a photochemical reaction, resulting in a waste plate.

(3) Adhesive layer: It is coated between the protective layer and the photosensitive resin layer, but it cannot be bonded excessively.

(4) Photosensitive resin layer: It is the main body of the plate. It is hardened after exposure to light, and it can be washed away without printing. The quality requirements are that the photographic performance should be stable and reliable, uniform coating, consistent thickness, and good flatness.

(5) Plate base: It is the basis of the solid plate, and it is generally a polyester sheet. Its role is to ensure the stability of the size of the photosensitive plate. After the back exposure, the resin is bound on the base film. Ensure that the plate is dimensionally stable, with no stretching, including the flatness and thickness consistency of the plate itself. In addition, an adhesive is applied between the bottom of the resin layer and the substrate, the main effect being that the two are firmly bonded and not easily separated. A solid photosensitive resin plate is a pre-coated plate and, like the common PS plate, is usually stored in a light-proof cardboard box. When used, it is more convenient to remove the cut from the box according to the size of the plate. For newly purchased plates, care must be taken to store them horizontally on the shelf. Do not put pressure on them, and do not place them vertically. Otherwise, deformation may occur. When working on materials, work in a room with yellow light, and avoid exposure to sunlight or unsafe light. Cutting with a ruler and sharp knife cutting, to prevent layout creases or plate base shelling. After cutting the small version into the box, but also a single flat, do not take the side to prevent the emergence of the waste version. After the printed plates are stored, the plates must be cleaned, talc powdered, wrapped with black paper or dark matter, stored in a dry and dark place, to prevent the plates from becoming hard, brittle, or cracked.

At present, good quality flexible solid photosensitive resin plates are available from DuPont's CYREL, BASF, USA Poly Edition, Japan's Co-prosperity, and domestic GS. These plates have a series of products, with different specifications, thickness and hardness. They have the same structure of the plate material; the exposure machine and the plate washer are the same; the plate washing solution is the same; the operating process is the same, and the same process and other common features are required.
