Extend the life of offset presses by adjusting the temperature of the inking device

Most of the transmission power of a printing press is used to drive the inking device. On the ink conveying device, when the ink is separated, the elastic rubber roller crushes and the ink roller crosses back and forth and the mechanical energy becomes heat. Therefore, people try to use circulating water to make the ink string roller and ink fountain roller constant temperature, and try to remove this heat from the source location. This circulating water is in the central water tank, and part of it is also adjusted to the required temperature in the lower unit attached to the printing unit. It is best to use a constant temperature (cooling and heating), so that the inking device can reach the standard working temperature before starting printing.

So far, three schemes can be implemented for adjusting the temperature of the inking device, which are compared in this article. These three schemes are different due to the measurement of the temperature as a regulated quantity at different locations:

1) The adjustment amount is the surface temperature of each inking device.

2) The adjustment amount is the temperature of the water used for constant temperature of the ink roller injected into each of the inking devices.

3) The adjustment quantity is the temperature of the water in the central water tank of the thermostatic device.

· Oil cooling

Although the thermal power generated on the transmission mechanism and bearings on the transmission side of the offset press is relatively small, the possibility of discharge is not high, so it will cause the side parts to generate heat. The high temperature of about 60 ~ C can be felt in the part of the transmission side that is not protected by the shroud, which has an adverse effect on the temperature uniformity of the entire machine surface. The function of oil cooling is to make the temperature of the side parts not higher than the hand temperature.

· Cooling fountain solution

The so-called water film or alcohol wetting device usually uses cooled fountain solution to supply water, and its temperature is about 10 ° C. From an overall point of view, the fountain solution cooling has little effect on the heat dissipation of the offset press. However, keeping the fountain solution at a low temperature is beneficial to reduce the evaporation of alcohol in the mixing tank and water delivery device, and can increase the viscosity of the fountain solution.

· Cylinder plate constant temperature

Waterless offset printing lacks the cooling effect of fountain solution. For a waterless offset press without a constant temperature of the inking device, it is best to cool the plate cylinder by blowing air. The offset printing with water only requires constant temperature of the inking device. The experiment described in this article does not include the plate cylinder thermostat.

· Infrared (old) temperature sensor

All surfaces of the heating element emit infrared rays, which can be measured with a sensitive radiation detector and used as a temperature display. For absolute measurements it is necessary to calibrate or accurately understand the emission capabilities of the relevant surface. In this article, the infrared temperature sensor is used to measure the temperature of the inking device, measuring device and blanket, so as to provide an adjustment amount for constant temperature (adjustment method 1).

· Volatility in printing

For the increase of solid density and tone value, three adjustment methods can be used to judge with the help of printed sheets, and these printed sheets are drawn from more than 175,000 sheets in mass printing. The printing plate is almost the same. Mainly to determine the statistical standard deviation and the range of difference between the maximum and minimum values.
