U.S. Uses Wheat Starch as Box

Recently, the research results presented at the American Chemical Society meeting showed that researchers in the United States have finally found a low-cost, environmentally friendly snack packaging material. This material is made from wheat straw fiber and starch in the wheat kernels as a raw material, and the finished packaging box can be completely degraded. Although there were packaging boxes made from potato starch, wheat starch was much cheaper than potato starch. Moreover, the packaging box using wheat starch as a raw material has better insulation performance than the packaging box using potato starch as a raw material. In the past, people mainly used polystyrene as a packaging material. Polystyrene, although lighter, easier to produce, and better in heat preservation, it could not be degraded and contained ozone-depleting chlorofluorocarbons. In addition to being more expensive, heavier, and more complex to make, the cardboard is also poorly insulated.
