On July 2, 2014, the 5th International Furniture Culture Capital of China's Western Furniture Trade Capital was officially reopened in Chengdu Bayi Furniture Plaza, marking a significant milestone for Sichuan’s furniture industry. This event not only celebrated home culture but also aimed to boost industrial development, helping Sichuan transition from a major furniture-producing province to a strong one. With over 5,000 local manufacturers and tens of thousands of brands participating, the event shone brightly, attracting numerous furniture dealers nationwide.
The opening ceremony featured prominent figures from the furniture industry, including Zhu Changling, Chairman of the China Furniture Association, Liu Jinliang, Vice Chairman of the association, and He Daiqiang, Executive Vice President of Chengdu Bayi Furniture Group. Their presence underscored the importance of the event in shaping the future of Sichuan’s furniture sector.
He Daiqiang highlighted that Bayi Furniture City has become a key destination for furniture buyers across the country and globally. The city not only serves as an efficient trading platform but also strengthens the brand image of “Never Ending Furniture Exhibition.†The festival is expected to achieve great success, further enhancing the region’s reputation as a hub for furniture culture and trade.
Two major events were announced during the opening: starting in 2015, the Sichuan Furniture Industry Chamber of Commerce will organize the “Sichuan Furniture National Tour Exhibition†in collaboration with provincial associations. A signing ceremony took place at the event, involving associations from Yunnan, Chongqing, Hubei, Hunan, Shaanxi, Guizhou, and Jiangxi. Additionally, the first Spring Ordering Conference of the Western China Furniture Trade Capital and the Sichuan Furniture Dealer Conference was scheduled for March 12–16, 2015, aiming to create a regular and impactful platform for business exchanges.
Zhu Changling, Chairman of the China Furniture Association, praised the event as the “Inland First Furniture Culture Festival,†emphasizing its growing influence and rich content. He commended the chamber’s efforts in transforming Sichuan into a stronger furniture industry player, boosting sales, and expanding market reach. The festival was seen as a vital platform for promoting home culture, facilitating cultural exchanges, and driving business negotiations.
Ding Wei, General Manager of Jiutian Furniture, delivered a warm speech, while the award ceremony for the “My Home Dream†photography contest added a creative touch to the event.
Looking ahead, the Sichuan Furniture Industry Chamber of Commerce aims to support the transformation of the industry by focusing on internal improvements. Wang Xuemao, President of the chamber, emphasized the importance of corporate training, advanced management practices, and improved production efficiency. For dealers, the chamber plans to identify top distributors nationwide, sharing their successful strategies to benefit the entire industry.
To streamline the ordering process, the chamber will host the first Spring Trade Fair in March 2015, bringing together thousands of brands and distributors. This centralized event aims to reduce travel burdens for dealers and offer a broader selection of products.
Meanwhile, the “Sichuan Furniture National Tour†is set to begin in March 2015, with the goal of bringing Sichuan furniture to markets nationwide. Wang Xuemao explained that this initiative will help dealers who may be unable to attend due to distance, making it easier for them to access high-quality Sichuan furniture.
As the Sichuan furniture industry continues to grow, the focus remains on innovation, sustainability, and strengthening its position in both domestic and international markets. The festival and upcoming events are seen as key drivers in this ongoing journey toward excellence.
