US uses corn to produce polyester lactic acid plastic

The American Corn Growers Association announced that it has succeeded in producing polyester lactic acid plastics from corn. With this technique corn can be processed into flake-like polymers.
Polymers made from corn can be made into fabric fibers. They can also be made into cups, bottles, food containers, wrappers or carpets. The American Corn Growers Association said that fabric made of polyester lactic acid has a silky texture and durability comparable to that of polyester. In addition, this new material is 100% biodegradable.
The development of polyester lactic acid plastics consumes 12.7 million tons of corn each year, which is equivalent to the level of ethanol produced by the United States every year. Corn is the largest crop in the United States. In addition to food, oil, sugar, feed, industrial uses, and exports, the United States still has a large amount of corn surplus every year. Therefore, developing the corn market has always been a major task for the American grower industry.
