The International Paper Company (IP) will soon add lighting, sound and other special effects to some consumer products. The key reason for this is that it uses an ultra-thin flexible battery developed by Power Paper.
It is reported that this new type of battery can be "printed" on the product packaging like ink. International Paper and Energy Paper hope that this new disposable battery will allow manufacturers to more effectively attract consumers through product packaging.
A spokesman for the International Paper Company stated: "The primary reason for using this type of battery in packaging is its marketing advantage - it can enable vivid advertising messages to leap into consumers' eyes many times."
It is said that the new battery-driven packaging will be available at the end of this year. International Paper Company is testing this new product, however, the company has not yet signed an agreement with any customer. Energy Paper is preparing to produce this new type of battery at its factory in Hong Kong starting later this year.
