Melamine resin is an addition and polycondensation product of melamine and formaldehyde. It is a more important nitrogen-based resin. Although a simple melamine resin can be used as an adhesive, the cured adhesive layer is brittle, easy to crack, and resistant to impact. Actually used are mostly modified melamine resin adhesives. Melamine resin adhesives have the following features:
1, high hardness, high bonding strength and good wear resistance.
2, excellent water resistance, especially boiling water resistance.
3, heat resistance, good aging resistance.
4, good chemical resistance and electrical insulation.
5, can be room temperature or heat curing, without curing agent heating can be cured.
6, the cured adhesive layer is colorless, transparent, shiny, non-toxic flame retardant.
7, more brittle, easier to crack.
8, poor stability, the price is more expensive.
Melamine resin adhesives are used to make water-resistant and durable plywood and laminates, but also to glue bamboo, wood products and synthetic fabrics. Also used as a crosslinker for polyvinyl acetate emulsion water resistance modifiers and acrylic vinegar emulsions.
